| Dear Friends and Fellow Chapter Members,
It’s hard to believe it but we are nearing the end of our ASHRAE season. April marks the final regular chapter dinner meeting. During this meeting elections will be held for the open Board of Governors position. After this meeting, there will be one last final meeting which will be the annual site visit before we break for the summer and resume again in September.
The Friday after the meeting (April 13th) will mark the first ever ASHRAE Shooting Event. This year the Board has decided to try out a new spring venue in the hopes it will turn into an annual event like the Golf Tournament. The shooting event will consist of two events. The first is the sporting clays. This is much like “golf with a shotgun” but essentially you drive around in 4 person golf carts to 21 different stations. At each station, clay targets will be launched (typically 2) and each person will have a turn to shoot at them. Don’t worry if you don’t have a shotgun as each cart will have a house gun for anyone to use. You are also welcome to bring your own shotgun as well. Also, don’t worry if you are beginner or have never shot before. There will be lots of other beginners attending (including yours truly) and there will be a full orientation prior to the event.
The second event is open use of the handgun range. Here you may fire your own handguns and have unlimited use of the range. You can also rent guns, including fully automatic weapons. There will be steel targets set up as well as a few informal friendly competitions.
Both events will be happening at the same time so you may only attend one event at a time. However, many of the attendees of the sporting clay events will most likely use the handgun range after the sporting clays and closing ceremonies are completed. I highly encourage you to stick around for this informal part of the event where you can get to know your fellow shooting ASHRAE members.
Please be sure to come out and enjoy our first ever shooting event; based on the interest, we should have a great turnout. Prices and event times can be found on the event flyer posted on this website.
