Dear ASHRAE members and Colleagues,

This month we will have the pleasure of hearing from Mark McDonald, principal of Energy Solutions, LLC.

Topic:  Air flow measurement of supply, return, exhaust and the most challenging...outside vent air.  We'll cover ASHRAE std 62 and other codes and mandates that specify measuring air flow and the importance of this data to building health, energy costs, and pressurization.  Also we will touch on real world examples of various types of measurement and facility managers dos & don'ts that are not always followed.

In this discussion, Mark will also discuss water, gas, and BTU measurement for hydronic systems in terms of driving forces such as LEED points, performance contracts, plant optimization, government mandates, and tenant billing.

About Mark McDonald – Principal

Mark has been in technical sales his entire career. He graduated with a BSME from Western Michigan University in 1990, and spent 13 years in the auto industry. In 2003, he started work with ONICON as a technical support engineer and then moved into a role as a territory manager. He became a product Representative for ONICON  and other premier manufacturers such as Air Monitor Corp in 2011 when he created ENERGY SOLUTIONS.

Mark believes strongly in a hands-on approach, regularly going to sites to service and ensure operation of all products.  He is always on the lookout for practical and economical ways to deliver best-in-class, water, gas, steam, BTU, and air flow measurement devices. His strong background in all aspects of metering, measurement and detection, coupled with a willingness to roll up his sleeves and do “whatever it takes” has earned him the nickname “The Meter Man”.
